“My dark eyes watched her silently in the dark. Her beautiful figure moved gracefully as she danced upon the floor with her partner. The year was about 1833. I was only twenty three at the time. But you know, then that was considered to be more mature than it does now a days. I, in my new tuxedo, stepped forward, holding out one hand.
“May I have this dance?” I asked. She smiled and nodded, taking my hand quickly. The other man simply bowed and allowed me to take her into my arms. As we danced, I began to imagine what my father would think of her. I could picture us living together for the rest of our lives. I opened my mouth suddenly.
‘Will I see you again?’ I asked. The young girl smiled as she stared into my eyes, her deep black ones shining in the dim light of the ballroom.
‘Yes. You will.’ She said calmly. I smiled back at her. I could feel that she was the one. And she was. About three weeks later we were madly in love and I proposed to her. We were madly in love, though looking back now… I suppose it was only I who was in love. To her, I was just a game. One day, when I returned home. She was waiting for me, as usual. She stared into my eyes as she grabbed my shirt, her grip feeling stronger than normal. She pulled me forward, holding me tightly. I hugged her back, surprised at what she was doing. She was never the type to display so much affection. Soon, I found out why. Her teeth pierced my flesh. I tried to pull away, but she was too strong now. She was a vampire and I had just been a game to her. I could feel my heart become full of sorrow, then suddenly anger as I pushed her away. My adrenaline pumped through me as the blood spilled from my open wound. I aimed the rifle that was hung on the wall at her head.
‘You bitch! I loved you! Was I just a game to you?’ I snarled. She stared at me in fear. I glanced at the gun, noticing that there were strange markings on it. I wasn’t sure what it meant, but I shot anyways. I shot her through her chest. I saw the blood spilling from her mouth as she slumped down. She moaned gently.
‘I’m so sorry… I just… I was so hungry… I… I got the rifle blessed for you so that if something like this ever happened… you’d be safe and… I’m sorry. I-” She started again, but I quickly stabbed her through the stomach with the gun. I felt my body collapse as the blood loss became too great for me. I began to fall, but before I did, someone caught me. I stared up into the calming eyes of Ryan. He held me gently, glancing at the body. He then stared back at me.
‘John.’ He said calmly, ‘Would you like to live?’
I nodded calmly.
‘That would be preferred.’ I joked. Ryan nodded.
‘I can help you, if you would like to be a vampire…’ He continued. I stared at him, then to the corpse of my girlfriend, then back to Ryan.
“I will.” I stated.” He finished, then glanced at me, “That was how I came to be. Now you have our stories.”
I stared at him quietly.
“So is that why you hate me?” I asked, “Because I’m a girl?”
John laughed, shaking his head. It was the first time I had heard him laugh in a good way.
“No. I’m not sexist. It’s because you remind me a lot of her.” He stated, “And I don’t want to be reminded of her.”
I stared at my feet.
“But she-” I began, but John interrupted me.
“She loved me. I know. I killed her. that’s why I don’t want to be reminded of her. It’s not her fault. I know that now. A vampire’s hunger can take it over and make the vampire do things that they didn’t want to.” He explained. I nodded slowly. John tilted my face up towards his.
“Don’t trust Ryan. Please. I know he’s my friend and the alpha vamp, but that also means I know more about him than you do.” He stated, “Ryan isn’t good.”
I stared up at John, trying to comprehend his warning. I quickly shook my head, bolting from his room.
“I-I’ll talk to you later John!” I called, running into my bedroom. I shut the door quickly, then fell onto my bed. I could feel the darkness wrap around me as my mind began to wander. Ryan wasn’t good? But then why- I shook my head. John had to be wrong about this. I sat up slowly, staring around my room. I could sense someone in the room, but I couldn’t see anything. I sighed, my mind going blurry.
“Allow me vision within this darkness” I snarled. I suddenly saw everything as if it was daytime. Brendon stood in the corner laughing.
“Oh my god! That took you awhile” He said, walking over and flicking the light on. I quickly blinked, my vision going back to normal. He sat down on the bed, flopping backwards.
“So, how was your meeting with John?” He asked. I fell back next to him as he wrapped an arm around me.
“It was okay. He told me his history then…” I said, my voice trailing off. What if Brendon wasn’t the best person to tell this? He hugged me tightly, stroking my hair.
“What, hon?” He asked. I shook my head.
“Nothing.” I said quickly. Brendon chuckled.
“Come on. You’ve got me interested now.” He said. I sighed, staring up at him.
“He told me to watch out for Ryan.” I said softly. Brendon stopped laughing as he stared at the ceiling.
“Interesting… He’s going against Ryan now…” He muttered. I sat up.
“Is there something I should know?” I asked. Brendon sighed, rubbing his head as he too sat up.
“I guess… But you already know it. Deep down. So you should probably figure it out on your own in order for you to actually believe it.” He stated. I sighed nodding as he exited the room. So Brendon was in on it too, only he was being a bit more secretive about it. I fell back onto the bed once again, this time falling fast asleep.
The next day when I awoke, there was a letter by my bed. I climbed over quietly, searching the area. I picked up the envelope carefully in my hands, slicing it open with my finger. I tried to read it, but my curtains were closed so it was impossible to do so. I reached over to my lamp, pulling on the strap and turning it on. I began to read the note slowly.
Dear Secret Ms. Santa, seeing as how you are a woman.
I got your name, if you haven’t guessed. The half of the vampires that are choosing chose last night. For this occasion, I’d like to ask you to wear blue. If you don’t, then it will look weird. Especially if you wear, like, brown or pink… that’d just looked fucked. Anyways. I’ll see you in a week. Enjoy your shopping.
Your Secret Santa
Ps. I also suggest you go in your talking form for two reasons. One, no one seems to like humans there and two, you’ll catch everyone’s eye.
Pps. Not saying that you don’t catch people’s eyes. I mean, you caught mine…
Ppps. Forget what I was saying. Just, please come in your talking form. Your ears are cute J …
I stared at the letter, chuckling softly. So I clearly met this person. How ever. I didn’t know who they were. I fell back onto my bed softly, then heard a knocking at the door. I opened it slowly, staring out.
“Hello?” I asked. Spencer stood before me, pointing at four girls who stood before me. They all grinned widely.
“Hey. These belong to you?” He asked. Cassie, Karin, Katie and Taylore all wrapped their arms around me tightly, pulling me into a hug.
“Hey guys, what’s the occasion?” I asked, my voice muffled by the bodies that were all taller than me. Katie pulled away, smirking.
“We are going shopping.” She stated, a matter-of-factly. I stared at the others as they nodded.
“Wait, are you all going to the masquerade?” I asked. Taylore raised an eyebrow.
“Well duh. We are all vampires and wolves. Of course we’re going. that’s what our shopping trip is for.” She stated. Cassie glanced at the note.
“Oh! Is that from your secret Santa?” She asked. I nodded, picking it up.
“Yeah. He sent me a note.” I said calmly. Karin snatched it out of my hands.
“Wow, no one ever sends notes… Oh my god! He sounds so cute! He crossed out that you caught his eye, you know” She said, reading the letter over. My face reddened.
“What?” I asked. Karin smirked, passing the note to the others as they began to crowd around to read it. I suddenly lunged out at them, reaching for the note.
“Give it back!” I yelped. The others began to coo over it.
“Oh! That’s so cute!” Taylore chirped. Katie laughed.
“He’d better be able to defend himself against Ryan if he’s going to have that crush on you.” She stated. We all laughed. I looked over at Spencer who looked incredibly confused. I laughed calmly.
“I’m going out for a bit. Is that okay?” I asked. Spencer nodded.
“Just don’t be out too late. I’ll cover for you.” He stated. I nodded.
“Thanks Spencer!” I chirped as the others began to drag me out. Time to go shopping.
